Head Teacher at a Support Unit in a Western Sydney secondary school

Having a son with a disability inspired a career change, so Barbara Calder went back to university and studied Psychology, Education and Special Education, ultimately earning a Masters degree at Macquarie University. This was the beginning of a huge learning curve!

When asked to teach a lady to read, an amazing journey commenced that has led to the development of the very successful research-based and evidence-based FlipdLit literacy program that teaches literacy and numeracy to people across all stages, ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Her passion for teaching has seen her become a leader in Special Education and she is currently Head Teacher at a newly established Support Unit in a Western Sydney secondary school.
