Karen Watson

Dr Karen Watson is a Lecturer in Early Childhood Education in the School of Education at the University of Newcastle. With over 30 years of teaching experience in a wide variety of contexts, including early childhood classrooms and early intervention services, she has worked at the university since 2008. Teaching across a broad range of subject areas, including child development and learning, philosophy in practice and inclusive education, her research interests focus on diversity and inclusion among children. Her doctoral research examined how young children actively negotiate difference in their everyday encounters with each other.
