Video: Supporting students with additional needs – using task slips

In today’s video, Additional Needs Coordinator Sue Pickett shares a task slip created by herself and her team at Eltham High School in Victoria to support teachers in assisting students with additional needs.

‘… what I’d really like people to take on board is – we work with a mixed ability classroom so not only have you got students in there with a disability, you have a lot of other students with mixed levels of functionality of academic, of social competencies,’ she shares in the video.

‘So to normalise the use of this task slip for any student who wants it – it’s a really powerful tool. It means that they have it on their desk, you can come over and write down what’s the first step you want them to do, they then tick the box and put their hand up when they’re ready for the next instruction.’
