Genevieve Milne

Genevieve Milne is currently Music and Special Education Teacher at Craigslea State High School, where her role involves teaching Music from Years 7-12 and supporting Special Education Program (SEP) students in accessing the curriculum. She has 35 years of classroom experience. In her role as a Music teacher she provides students with the opportunity to develop their creativity and develop a lifelong love of music. As a special education teacher she enjoys ensuring that SEP students have access to the curriculum, success in their studies, and a positive school life experience. Her personal interests lie in finding creative means of improving students’ engagement and achievement.

When two senior Music teachers saw a need to improve the quality of student’s home practice of chosen instruments, they implemented a strategy of solitary, deliberate music practice. In consultation with the school’s Master Teacher, they developed a model aimed at improving student learning outcomes.
