Australian Christian College Victoria (ACCV) has launched its new virtual campus, Australian Christian College Victoria Online (ACCVO), where students ‘logged on’ to attend their virtual classes beginning Term 1, 2025.
ACCVO is part of the Australian Christian College (ACC) network, the nation’s largest non-government distance education provider, currently operating 16 on-campus schools across 5 states, plus distance education in Queensland, Tasmania, New South Wales, Western Australia, and now Victoria.
ACCVO has started with 46 students enrolled across years 5 to 10 on its launch date – 3 March, 2025. Plans are also in place to offer VCE subjects as early as 2026.
More than ever, families are seeking flexibility in education. Students are flocking to ACCVO as it allows them to pursue their individual needs and passions while receiving a high-quality education. Whether it's elite athletes, young entrepreneurs, students with health challenges, or those who simply thrive in a self-paced environment, online learning removes the barriers of traditional schooling, allowing students to receive a full education without compromising on either.
Official numbers of online students are not available, however anecdotal evidence indicates that upward of 10,000 students learn online in Australia. The increasing demand for flexible, high-quality education was a key driver to the expansion of ACC Distance Education into Victoria. The success of ACC’s existing model demonstrated that it could offer a structured yet flexible approach to learning that caters to a wide range of student needs. ACC wants to ensure that it can support as many families across Victoria as possible by providing access to an academically rigorous, faith-based education – no matter where they are.
ACCVO provides a blend of live teaching, structured independent study and personalised support. Students engage in live online lessons with teachers scheduled throughout the week, as well as complete independent study with teacher-recorded explicit teaching, tasks and assessments. To ensure students are on track, regular check-ins with teachers are essential to discuss progress, set goals and provide academic support. This flexible structure ensures students remain connected while still having the flexibility to learn at their own pace.
Community remains at the heart of ACCVO, so connection is fostered through a range of live class and group discussions that encourage collaboration and active participation. The teachers are committed to getting to know each student on a personal level. Through class sizes, personal feedback, and regular video chats, they build strong relationships that go beyond academics.
Families who enrol with ACCVO can expect a high-quality, personalised learning experience that ensures every student is well known, well-loved and well taught.
‘Victoria Online provides parents and students with unrivalled flexibility and a top-notch education. We are thrilled to bring this model of schooling to the families of Victoria,’ Principal Caleb Peterson says.
‘Whether your student is living in a remote area, following a passion outside the classroom or for any other reason, our online curriculum offers qualified teacher support and is the “best of both worlds” for Victorians blending live sessions with self-paced lessons,’ Peterson adds.
‘Don’t be mistaken – this isn’t a diploma mill. Lessons are delivered by qualified teachers and students are held to a high standard. We place substantial emphasis on student wellbeing, an engaging curriculum and the continual provision of personalised feedback to support growth and extension. The benefits of this model of schooling are many, including the flexibility to learn from anywhere,’ he concludes.
