Dr Jean Hopman researches the emotional aspects of teaching by exploring the unrecognised layers of a teacher's role. Her research gave rise to the identification of 'teacher emotional rules'. She is interested in educational narratives and supporting social change through the empowerment of people in education settings.

Jean has a professional background in education and psychotherapy. Since 2000, she has taught and counselled in diverse educational settings, including government, private and international schools, alternative education settings and universities.
