In 2026, Musica Viva Australia proudly celebrates 45 years as one of the country’s leading providers of music education. Since 1981, our program has supported teachers and students across Australia by delivering creative, curriculum-aligned experiences that enrich classroom learning through the power of music. Each year, we reach more than 200,000 students in schools of all shapes and sizes, bringing together live in-school shows, accessible teacher PD opportunities, and accessible digital resources to inspire a lifelong love of music.
‘We’re genuinely committed to ensuring a music-rich future for all Australians. With the largest touring footprint of any music education program in the country, we’re focused on access, reaching students in communities where our show might be the only live music they experience all year.’
– Cassandra Lake, Director of Education
Our Musica Viva Australia In Schools touring shows are made up of some of the country’s finest musicians, offering vibrant, culturally diverse performances that are specifically designed to engage primary-aged learners. The 2026 lineup includes returning favourites such as Wyniss, Music in My Suitcase, and El Camino alongside 2 exciting new shows Roads We Travel, and On The Wireless. Each performance is interactive, inclusive, and tailored to the learning needs of students from Foundation to Year 8. From Torres Strait Islander games and global folk traditions to improvised soundscapes and indie-rock storytelling, these shows are designed to celebrate culture and creativity; offering students new ways to see and hear the world.
‘The performance was very engaging with the performers enabling a good balance between enthusiastic participation and poignant teaching moments.’

Teacher support continues with free professional development available throughout the year. Our tailored show-specific webinars help guide educators through the available resources and offer insights into the music and musicians performing at your school. Additional in-person and online workshops are available throughout the year, alongside our popular 12-week Music Education Skills for the Primary Classroom course, designed to boost confidence in general classroom teachers with limited music background. All PD offerings are aligned to AITSL’s Professional Standards and are practical, accessible, and designed with busy educators in mind.
‘I was able to plan lessons and receive feedback about how to better engage students and use teaching strategies that support students learning. This has been an amazing experience; I have become so much more confident in my teaching of music.’
– Orelia Primary School, WA
At just $10.50 per student, the Musica Viva Australia In Schools program remains one of the most affordable ways to embed music into school life. We are committed to ensuring every student has the chance to experience music, regardless of circumstance. Through our Equal Music initiative, we offer financial assistance to low ICSEA and small schools, as well as those experiencing financial or geographical barriers, ensuring that music can reach even the most remote or disadvantaged communities.
