Richard M. Ryan

Richard M. Ryan, Ph.D., is a Professor at the Institute for Positive Psychology and Education, Australian Catholic University, Sydney. He is also a Distinguished Professor in the College of Education at Ewha Womans University, Korea, and Visiting Professor at the Dyson School of Engineering, Imperial College London. A clinical psychologist and co-developer of Self-Determination Theory, Ryan has authored over 450 publications on human motivation, mindfulness, development, and wellness. Ranked among the World’s Top 25 Scientists and the most cited psychological researcher today, he has received multiple distinguished career awards related to education, motivation, and self and identity.
