Video infographic: High frequency words used by young students

Oxford University Press compiled a list of the 500 most frequently used words written by students in Australia in their first three years of schooling.

The report details the findings of research conducted in 2017 into the words most frequently used by young students in Australia in their writing.

Students in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 were involved in the research, and the results draw interesting comparisons to the last Wordlist published by Oxford University Press 10years prior.

For instance, in the past decade the language used by students in their first three years of schooling has become much more casual, and the words most frequently used by boys and girls have some clear differences.
