Barbara Gillis is a mature-age teacher who has worked in a variety of educational settings across multiple year levels. As a teacher for the Department of Education S.A. she has taught in remote, rural and urban Aboriginal schools where she has promoted the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures cross-curriculum priority for students to engage in reconciliation, respect and recognition of the world’s oldest continuous living cultures.

Barbara is currently working collaboratively with a team of educators to develop curriculum materials for a peace education programme to be piloted in S.A. schools and universities in 2022.
